BlackBerry Motion Review – A mediocre phone with a giant battery

If you want a short to the point review of BlackBerry Motion keep these points in mind

  • Great Battery Life
  • Gives Modern Touch to BlackBerry Smartphone Brand
  • Water Resistant
  • Outdated Hardware
  • Uninspiring Camera
  • Key Placement gives a headache

Those looking out for a detailed review, here you go

The battery life of BlackBerry Motion is just incredible. 4,000mAh battery is just great. Other than this the phone has BlackBerry security software some other standard features. Android phones do have these features but for a BlackBerry phone, it is quite the first time.

Specifications of the phone include dual sim, 5.5-inch 1080p screen, IP67-rated water resistance etc. The phone has no hardware keyboard, not even underneath it. IP67-rated water resistance feature is not available in many mid-range phones, thus it makes BlackBerry Motion standout.

Compared to other BlackBerry devices, BlackBerry Motion’s design is more for the mainstream consumers. There is nothing over the top but everything is just Okay, kind of mediocre. The standard features of the phone include 12 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and 8MP front camera, 32 GB storage, 4 GB RAM, 1080p LCD screen, a microSD card slot. The world is moving towards 64GB RAM so 32GB is not an ideal storage capacity.

Something that makes Blackberry Motion a must buy phone is its incredible battery and appealing security touches on top of Android Nougat.

On the downside, BlackBerry Motion is a heavy phone. For an affordable phone, its aluminum trim around the edges adds extra mass to the phone.

Other than this the phone has capacitive Back and Apps buttons. They light up when a user is using the phone but slowly fade out as well, which is quite irritating.

Other than this another issue with BlackBerry Motion phone is that all the buttons, power button, convenience key are on the right side while the left side just has the SIM tray. So a user is constantly mixing the buttons on the right side. So yeah the designing of the phone is a complete failure.

Coming to the display of the phone it has 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel, 1080p, and resolution of 401 pixels. The display size is standard but the resolution is not up to date. Nothing extraordinary in it.  The screen is coated with a ‘proprietary nano-diamond anti-scratch coating’. The issue here is that it makes the phone very slippery when it is put face-screen down. So the advice to users is to put the phone face-up.

The brightness of the phone is fine. Again nothing that will make you jump with excitement just mediocrely fine.

Price of BlackBerry Motion:

The price of the phone is £399 or $535. In Pakistan, the price of BlackBerry Motion is PKR 56493.
