Birth Certificate Not Required Anymore for Obtaining CNIC

A new policy has been introduced by the National Database Regulation Authority (NADRA) for issuing Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and other documents. Birth Certificate is not required anymore to obtain a new CNIC. The requirements include the matriculation certificate’s copy, a domicile, a passport, and the CNICs of your parents.

Also, the condition to have a marriage certificate in order to obtain the wife’s CNIC is also canceled. All you need for wife’s CNIC is the copy of the husband’s CNIC and an Rs. 20 affidavit.

Furthermore, if you lose your CNIC, lodging an FIR for it is no longer necessary. All you need to do it is submit by submitting an undertaking on a stamp paper regarding the loss/theft of the card and obtain a new CNIC.
