Billion Tree Tsunami Project In KPK

The billion tree tsunami is a project in KPK, in Gambila River Bed in Lakki Marwat. The project was initiated by KPK government to plant billion new trees in the area and fight deforestation with reforestation.

As per a senior director of programmers for WWF-Pakistan, Rab Nawaz “The success on the ground is phenomenal, this is not just about planting trees but about changing attitudes.”

The project is backed by Imran Khan, Leader of PTI ruling party in KPK.

Recently Imran Khan posted a picture on his Facebook account, featuring how Gambila River Bed looked in 2013 before the reforestation project and how it appears today when a billion trees have been planted.

On one hand, our government is cutting trees to make roads and new buildings. We feel development is important even if it will bring climatic and environmental hazards with it. On the other hand, there is an effort being made to save the environment and protect humanity. This effort needs appreciation and recognition.
