In terms of capacity, the biggest ship to ever docket at Karachi Port anchored at the port on Tuesday. At 4pm, the ship was docked at South Asia Pakistan Terminals.
The ship named South Hampton Express has the capacity to carry 12,600 containers as per the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) administration. It arrived from Abu Dhabi in Karachi. The length of the ship, beam, and depth is 366.1 meters, 48.3 meters, and 14.8 meters respectively.
The ship will be used to ship 2,000 containers from the port. A KPT spokesperson in this regard said that all the necessary arrangements will be made at the port at the directives of KPT chairman. The staff and workers of the ships were inspected as per the guidelines issued by the government.
Regularly the port is disinfected so that the trade does not get affected.
