The United States Senator Graham says that it is the best chance in decades to reset the Pak-US relations.
Lindsey Graham—the Leading Republican called on Prime Minister of Pakistan on Monday. Senator Graham leads the Senate Judiciary Committee and is also a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
PM Imran Khan and Senator Graham had a discussion on the bilateral ties and the regional situation. PM Khan lauded the efforts and support put in by Senator Graham for strengthening the Pakistan-US ties.
Prime Minister Imran Khan explained to the Senator of the priorities of his government with respect to development and economic growth. He added that Pakistan wishes for a broad-based relationship with the United States that could safeguard the interests of the two nations and boost a win-win alliance in the areas varying from economy to trade and investment to energy and education.
PM Khan said that Pakistan paid a big price owing to the instability in Afghanistan. He added that Pakistan wishes peace in Afghanistan and is completely committed to working with the United States in acquiring a political settlement in Afghanistan.
Senator Graham was in complete agreement with the PM that the constant and high-level engagement between the United States and Pakistan is to the benefit of both the nations. He lauded the support of Pakistan for the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
The senator also said that the visible improvement in the security environment of Pakistan is a result of the successful counterterrorism operations and efforts for securing the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The US senator later on Twitter said that there exist huge business opportunities between Pakistan and the US via a free trade agreement linked to their combine security interests.
He further added that it is also their best chance in years to reset the ties between the United States and Pakistan.
