Banks to Remain Closed on Jan 1

The State Bank of Pakistan would remain closed for public dealings on the 1st of January, that is Wednesday. The mentioned day would be observed as a Bank Holiday.

All the banks/microfinance institutions/ the Development Finance Institutions shall, therefore, would remain closed for public dealings on the specified data, as said by SBP in a statement.

But, all the employees of the banks/ MFBs/ DFIs would be attending the office as usual.

In the meantime, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has made the announcement that the authorized branches of the National Bank of Pakistan, as well as the field offices of the apex banking services cooperation, would observe the extended banking hours up to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, that is the 31st of December for facilitating the collection of the Government duties/ receipts/ taxes.

As per a press release issued by the SBP, all banks are advised to keep their related branches open on Tuesday until the time that is needed for facilitating the special clearing for the Government transactions.

On the other hand, as per the latest development, the Railways minister has decided to extend the date of Christmas train operations. The new date is till the 10th of the next month.

The news has brought merriment among the travellers. The train route is from Rawalpindi to Karachi.
