Banks Received More Than 375,000 Applications Under 2018 Govt. Hajj Scheme

Sardar Muhammad Yousaf—the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs informed that the banks have received more than three lacs seventy-five thousand (375,000) applications this year for the Government Hajj Scheme. Out of which one lac twenty thousand (120,000) intending Hajj pilgrims would be sent to Saudi Arab.

Owing to the reason that last year the government of Pakistan made excellent arrangements for the Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, this year record number of applications were submitted by the citizens under the government Hajj scheme.

During the opening ceremony of the Jamia Masjid Fatima uz Zehra at Adiala Road the Religious Affairs Federal Minister said this.

He informed further that government has made a policy for the facilitation of the Hajj pilgrims. Answering a question, he said that a quota of sixty-five thousand (65,000) Hajj pilgrims would be granted to the private Hajj organizers so they could also send the intending pilgrims under private Hajj scheme to Saudi Arab.

Sardar Yousaf said that the government has adopted a transparent policy for the Hajj scheme 2018 and an excellent policy has been made. He further added that various federal cabinet approved committees were made in this regard.

The Minister expressed that it is hoped that the Supreme Court may soon announce a decision on the case of Hajj quota.

He informed that the government is also trying to resolve the issues being experienced by the Masajid Imam.

Responding to another question he said that uniform prayer timings were made for Islamabad but could not be fully implemented and that a national Ulema and Mashaikh Council at the central level was made which would also play a significant role in resolving the problems of Imam Masajid.

He added that the support of citizens especially traders and civil society would be required for the implementation of uniform prayer timings in the federal capital.

Sardar Yousaf added that we are trying our best to provide excellent facilities to the pilgrims in Saudi Arab and best arrangements would be made like last year.

He added that the record-breaking number of applications this year indicates that people are happy and satisfied with the government Hajj scheme.
