The State Bank of Pakistan—SBP would remain closed for public dealings on the 1st of Ramazan that is Tuesday and is tomorrow. The banks would do so for observing a bank holiday for the deduction of Zakat.
All the banks, Microfinance banks (MFBs) and Development Financial Institutions (DFIs) would hence remain closed for public dealing on the 1st of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak 1440 A.H, as per a statement released by the SBP.
But, all the bank employees, employees of MFBs and DFIs would be attending the office on Bank Holiday treating it as a normal working day, but no public dealings would be done, the statement further read.
Today, Saudi Arabia and the countries like the United Arab Emirates are observing their first fast of the holy month.
Yesterday, the Ruet-e-Hilal committee in Pakistan sat to see the moon but the moon was not sighted.
It is expected that the moon would be seen today in Pakistan and then tomorrow would be the first fast of the Ramazan Karim in the country.
Ramazan is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the Muslim Umah. It is the time when people engage themselves in worship and in excessive good deeds.
