Bangladesh Purchases 82 Ton Pakistani Onions

On Wednesday, Bangladesh purchased 82-ton Pakistani onions at the Hazarat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

As per the recent reports, India has placed a ban on the exports of onions to Bangladesh, which has led to an acute shortage of onions.

Bangladesh took the decision of bringing down the prices of the onions back to normal levels by importing onions from Pakistan. Regarding this, a cargo plane of Silkway West Airlines which was carrying 82 tons of the onions produced in Pakistan landed at Dhaka Airport on Wednesday.

As per the Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House—Sazzad Hossain, Bangladesh would be importing the onions from Pakistan in the days to come.

Previously, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh—TCB directed all the traders to sell onions at Tk.45 per kg for making the onions affordable for the common man.

Furthermore, on the 14th of November, a group of traders from Chittagong dumped 20 tons of rotten onions in the Chaktai Canal of the Karnaphuli River.
