The Karachi police have taken the decision of acting against the groom and his family over the incidents of aerial firing and fireworks during wedding ceremonies throughout the city.

The decision was taken in a meeting of wedding hall owners with the Additional IG Karachi—Dr Amir Sheikh on Wednesday where both parties—the hall owners and Karachi police decided a plan for avoiding the incidents of aerial firing and fireworks. It was also decided to close the wedding halls at 12 midnight.

The banquet and wedding hall owners also agreed with the Karachi chief police regarding the hall closure timings. They assured complete implementation of the imposed ban on the use of fireworks, aerial firing and halls closure at 12 am during the wedding ceremonies.

The meeting also took the decision to take strict action against the grooms and their families in case the rules are violated.

In the meeting, the wedding halls and banquet owners and the chief police also discussed the traffic situation and made separate committees for controlling the traffic situation. The SSP Traffic, SHO of the related police station and the representatives of the wedding halls and banquets are made the members of the committee while the meeting also made the decision to close the wedding halls and banquets that do not have parking space.

This is a good step taken by the Karachi police as aerial firing and fireworks lead to deadly accidents many times.
