The Balochistan cabinet has given approval to the wheat procurement policy for this year and has taken the decision of purchasing 1 million wheat bags from the provincial food department.
The provincial finance department would offer an interest-free loan to the food department for the purchase of wheat and it would return the loan amount to the finance department after the selling of wheat.
The cabinet led by the Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani also asked the food department to form wheat procurement centres in the wheat-growing areas during the first week of April which he said would just be in time for buying of the required wheat from Nasirabad division.
The food department was further told to draft a detailed mechanism for the procurement of wheat, its storage and sale to the flour mills within the next 10 days.
The cabinet asked the Department of Minerals to get a loyalty set of different minerals and approved the auctioning of the contract and asked to reduce the period of the contract from 1 year to 6 months on an experimental basis.
The cabinet has given approval to the many amendments in the mineral sector like the issuance of the mining license and the renewal fees and a surge in the royalty rates of the lease.
