Bakhtawar on Friday evening tweeted that no consent was taken from her or her relatives. She referred to the idea as completely unacceptable and said that they would take legal action against it.

Mehwish Hayat to this responded by saying that for clarifying the spreading rumours she wrote that there is a project, but it is in very initial stages of development and the project would not be pursued without the consent or blessings of Benazir Bhutto’s family. She further wrote that the team involved would definitely contact Benazir Bhutto’s family before making any progress.

She further added that as she is an actress, she is just researching about the legend lady. She wrote that irrespective of any film, she would love to meet and wants to learn more about her.

In a previous post on Instagram, the Jawani Phir Nai Aani actress confirmed that she is preparing to play the role of Benazir in the upcoming film. She wrote that she has been honoured by the opportunity to research and learn more about Benazir’s life. She added that if the former prime minister would not have lost her life so tragically there could have been so much more to reflect upon.
