Supreme Court of Pakistan has forbidden Bahria Town Karachi to sell or transfer land plot & other properties.
Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry two-member bench has declared that the plots allotment & transfer in Bahria Town Karachi is illegal.
Another investigation is ordered by the court to find out how Malir Development Authority (MDA) land was transferred to Bahria Town.
The bench said, “A reference should be filed against the culprits after investigation within three months. A special bench should be constituted to implement the chief justice’s verdict.”
Bahria Town Karachi has not commented on the verdict by Supreme Court.
Bahria Town representative said, “We cannot issue any statement at the moment. It will be issued after consultation with the lawyers.”
As per the Court, the handing over properties at Bahria Town Karachi can be done, following the legal procedures. But the prices & condition of the transfer will be made by the constituted bench.
As per the bench, many allotters did not pay the full price of their property and the money must be deposited at the Karachi Registry of the top court.
Supreme Court said, “The additional registrar should open a special account in the Karachi Registry.”
Furthermore, the court declared that they know that lands were sold to DHA Karachi at an extremely cheap price. “The chief justice should take Suo-moto notice over giving land to DHA Karachi.”
It’s worth mentioning that Bahria Town was building the third biggest mosque in the world in Bahria Town Karachi along with a world-class theme park and Pakistan’s largest cricket stadium. The stadium will have a capacity of 50,000 people and the Masjid will have the capacity to accommodate 800,000 worshippers.
