Bahrain to Open Largest Theme Water Park in the World

It has been announced that Bahrain will open a vast underwater theme park in the world. It will span 100,000 square meters off a Bahraini island city. Also, it will feature a sunken Boeing 747. The theme water park will open in August.

From all over the world the Bahrain theme park will attract divers. The main attraction of the world’s largest theme park is its specially prepared aircraft.

According to Bahrain’s minister of industry, commerce, and tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, the 70-meter-long plane is “the largest ever to be submerged.”

The project has materialized in collaboration with Supreme Council for Environment, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), and the private sector.

A replica of Bahraini pearl merchant’s house will be featured in the diving site.

The minister said, “We are proud to launch this unique eco-friendly project.”

As per the officials, the new Bahrain attraction follows strict environmental standards and it will boost the marine life growth as well as revive the local ecosystem.

Marine specialist Adriana Humanes , who has a PhD in Marine Ecology from James Cook University, Australia said, “As corals reefs in good health state become less abundant and divers become more skilled and experienced, artificial reefs have become popular alternatives used by governments and the tourism industry to attract visitors to certain areas of interest.”

Adding, “Wreck diving is one of the oldest methods used to construct artificial reefs by providing a structure to marine sessile organisms and fishes.”
