The Babu Passenger Train service operations have been suspended for an indefinite period of time. The Babu Passenger train was operated between Lahore and Wazirabad.
As per a notification issued by the Pakistan Railways the train service has been adjourned, however, no reason was specified or mentioned for the suspension of train services.
The train was mostly used by the working-class passengers and students. It used to depart from Wazirabad at around 5 am in the morning and reach at Lahore at around 7 am on a daily basis.
A passenger said that the train was the only medium of transportation for the government workers and students.
He further added that instead of Babu Passenger train they would now be operating the Mianwali Express and Faisalabad Non-Stop trains which are already incurring losses.
Additionally, the passenger said that if the railways do not resume the suspended train service then they would start a protest.
Recently, the Pakistan Railways announced about introducing more new trains for providing ease to the passengers of the Sindh province. The trains dubbed as the Rohi Passenger and Mohenjo-Daro Passenger would be run between Sukkur-Khanpur and Kotri-Rohri respectively.
The railway’s department has already launched three trains including the Mianwali Express, Rawalpindi Express and Faisalabad Non-stop trains.
The department of railways has also got plans of increasing the count of the freight trains from the present number of ten to fifteen within the span of 120 days.
