Chinese firm Alibaba Group Holding Ltd said in a statement that Audi, Renault, and Honda will feature its voice-controlled assistant/Smart Speaker in their cars.
As Alibaba expands its artificial intelligence and brings innovation to its products, the Tmall Genie Auto smart speaker allow drivers to make voice commands such as place orders on Alibaba retail platform, buy movie tickets and more, Alibaba said it during CES Asia 2019 technology trade show organized in Shanghai.
Alibaba also said that in future the smart speaker will also allow drivers to control and monitor smart devices in their houses that are equipped with Tmall Genie-compatible device, a joint statement with three automakers.
“We are really excited to partner with renowned global auto brands including Audi, Honda, and Renault, we together will greatly enhance in-car services and make the drivers experience more intelligent, controlled and interconnected.”, said Miffy Chen, general manager at Alibaba AI Labs. Tmall Genie is the direct competitor of Amazon Echo, Alibaba launched Tmall Genie back in 2017 and released its auto version April last year.
The other automakers are also interested in installing the device in their vehicles including Volvo and BMW, Amazon also has the auto version of the Echo called Echo Auto which it announced in September last year.
