At least 91 prisoners in Pakistani jails are terminally ill, SC told

After the order of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to release the former three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on medical grounds, the chief justice of the top court of the country ordered the state authorities to compile a list of the ailing prisoners in the jails of the country.

The data of the ailing prisoners in Pakistan’s jails was already presented before the apex court of the country last year.

Back in June 2018, the Supreme Court of Pakistan, during the tenure of Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, released the information about the ailing prisoners in a press release.

According to the statement, there were 91 terminally ill prisoners, with life-threatening diseases, waiting for treatment across Pakistan.
