AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 Vaccine Gets an Approval for Emergency Usage

Pakistan now has approved AstraZeneca – the coronavirus vaccine. It would be used for emergency purpose, as of now.

For emergency purposes, Pakistan has approved AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine. It would be the first coronavirus vaccine to get the green light for use in the South Asian country, the health minister said.

It is also informed that Pakistan would acquire more than a million doses of Sinopharm’s vaccine. However, the Chinese vaccine is still to be approved by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).

Pakistan is in talks with a number of vaccine producers, and soon the country could get “in the range of tens of millions” of vaccine doses under an agreement with China’s CanSinoBio.

It is also informed that the vaccine Ad5-nCoV COVID-19 is nearly in completion of phase III clinical trials in Pakistan.

It is imperative to share that as of Friday (Jan-15-21), some 2,432 new coronavirus cases were registered, while 45 deaths occurred. The total toll of the country is more than 516,000 cases and deaths close to 11,000.
