Arsenic Poisoning: Contaminated Water Has Put 50 Million Pakistani’s At Risk

A study was conducted of which results shows that contaminated water in Pakistan is putting at risk 50 million people. Arsenic poisoning from the contaminated water can cause the death of millions of Pakistanis.

Arsenic is an element found usually in the soil. If it is in high quantity it can cause skin cancer, abnormal heart rates, and even death. Arsenic poisoning has no cure.

Now, the study reveals that quantity of arsenic found in Indus River is much higher than what is considered safe by World Health Organization.

The research was conducted in 2016 which proved that around 3000 water sources in Pakistan have 70 to 80% of arsenic. Thus making the water unsafe for drinking.

The situation has aggravated as the population is increasing of the country thus forcing farmers to over pump ground water.

Now the study has demanded to test the arsenic level of each and every water well in Indus River Valley.
