Fawad Khan—who is a Pakistani actor and a heartthrob across the world had an FIR filed against him after his family denied to give anti-polio vaccination drops to his child on Wednesday.
As per a spokesperson, Fawad Khan was booked by the anti-polio team administration at the Faisal Town Police Station.
It was further mentioned that the first information report (FIR) has been filed against six others including the Humsafar actor. Out of the 6, four FIRs are lodged at the Faisal Town Police station while 2 were lodged with the Model Town police station.
Babar bin Ata—the spokesperson of the PM’s polio taskforce while responding to the news of FIR against the actor said that as per the DC Lahore, teams wanted to vaccinate Fawad’s daughter, but first, his driver misbehaved with the teams after that his family did the same. He added that Fawad Khan is the pride of Pakistan and he requested him to permit teams to immunize his child. He maintained that there had been a polio case reported last week in Lahore and they must protect the child.
Fawad Khan’s media team has also released a statement as per which neither of the parents that is Fawad Khan and his wife was present at home when the anti-polio team visited his place.
It also mentioned that the actor was not in Pakistan since the 13th of February, as he was booked for performing at the opening ceremony of Pakistan Super League and is currently in the United States.
The statement further says that Fawad Khan is in complete support of the anti-polio drive and is fully aware of the guidelines of WHO and CDC.
The statement concluded by adding that the vaccination of Fawad’s daughter was up to date and the record is also there to support the claim.
The country’s first National Polio Campaign 2019 has started earlier in the month of January. The drive is aimed at eradicating the disease by providing vaccination to more than 8 million children who are below the age of 5.
