Android Wear OS To Include Other Voice Assistants As Well

Wear OS

The launch of the new generation of the Galaxy Watch series is approaching, and more and more details about the operating system of the smartwatches are emerging. The new Wear OS 3 is expected to support the use of other assistants on the devices.

The not yet officially confirmed change was passed on by the insider SnoopyTech on Twitter to the website 9to5Google. There one found in the “Wear OS” -APK information on a package called “Wearable Alternate Assistant” that could be an app or a system service:

The option of using Bixby on the new Wear OS 3 (or another future version) should please those who have switched from an older Galaxy Watch with the Tizen system to the new models with Wear OS 3 – and its One UI Watch- Adaptation – switch. This would make it possible for these users to continue to rely on the virtual assistant of their choice.

Detailed information expected at the unpacked event

The new Galaxy Watch with Wear OS is expected to be presented at the Galaxy Unpacked event next week. In addition to the smartwatch, highlights of the event include the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 mobile phones and the TWS Galaxy Buds 2 Bluetooth headphones.

If you look at the number of readers who responded to a recent survey that they use Bixby, Samsung’s assistant is far behind Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa in terms of popularity.

Could this news be nothing more than a courtesy from Google to bring Samsung to Android Wear OS? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
