It was in October 2015 when Ortega became world’s richest man but that was for less than a day. Then in September 2016 he again regained lead which was also for a short period, and Bill Gates took over him.
Ortega founded Inditex along with his late ex-wife, Rosalia Mera in the year 1975. The business grew so much so that now it is worth $100 billion.
Now Ortega has diversified his investments by hosting worldwide investments, investing in real estates etc. Despite his various investments he still holds 80% of Inditex shares.
