All you need to know about the First Nursing University in Pakistan

In this article, we will tell our readers all they need to know about the establishment of the first nursing university in Pakistan.

The construction work on King Hammad University of Nursing and Associate Medical Sciences, Pakistan’s first nursing university will start next month. Once the arrangements are finalized by the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS), the construction work will begin.

Land granted to construct the university is about 5500 square feet. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) gave this land after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed.

Coming to the cost that has been estimated for the construction of the nursing university the director-general of the health ministry Dr. Asad Hafiz said, “The construction cost is estimated at about $ 16 million, contract of the university has been given and construction work will begin next month.”

During his visit to Pakistan back in March 2014, the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa offered to establish the medical institute in the country as a gift. Now Pakistan has decided to arrange land for establishing state-of-the-art university while it will be funded by Bahrain.

Back in July 2016, a Bahraini delegation, led by Dr. Shaikha Rana Bint Isa Bin Daij Al-Khalifa visited Islamabad for the finalization of the project. At that time MoU was signed with the Ministry of Health in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of the university back on 6th January 2017. Many prominent figures from Bahrain accompanied him.

Presently, there are 100,000 nurses in Pakistan. However, Pakistan needs 900,000 nurses over the next 15 years. This project is a gift to Pakistani people from King Hammd Al Khalifa.
