Shahzad Akbar—a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability, during a press conference on Thursday, said that all suspected pilots have been grounded following the directives of the federal government of Pakistan.
The SAPM, while addressing a press conference alongside the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi, said that it is very important to bring the reformations to the institutions owned by the state of Pakistan and PTI-led federal government was not showing tolerance for any kind of irregularity.
Mr. Akbar said that the issue related to the pilot licences was unearthed after a suo motu notice of the top court of the country when the prime minister of that time and chief executive officer (CEO) of AirBlue airline company Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had been summoned.
Shahzad Akbar said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan reprimanded the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for running an airline company alongside governing a country as the Prime Minister.
He further said that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was destroyed due to the decisions taken by the past government. Akbar admitted that the international flights of the national flag carrier are still affected due to the coronavirus pandemic.
