All the local airlines have increased their airfares up to 41percent before Eid.
The Pakistan International Airlines—PIA and other private airlines operating in Pakistan have increased their fares up to 41percent. As per the local media reports, the reason behind this surge as given by the airlines is the increase in fuel prices in the international market and the surging dollar price.
After the surge in airfares, the two-way ticket from Lahore to Karachi route is being sold up to Rs.39,500 from the earlier price of Rs.28,000, indicating a surge of Rs.11,500.
As per sources, the increase in fares before Eid-ul-Fitr would cause more difficulties for the public, who are already striving to keep pace with the increasing inflation.
According to the details shared, the local airlines have surged their airfares. The fares of a return flight on Lahore-Karachi route have increased as follows:
Two months earlier, a one-way ticket from Lahore to Karachi was being sold within the range of Rs.14,000 to Rs.17,000 while the two-way ticket of the same route was of Rs.28,000.
