Air India—India’s national carrier airline would be operating several all-women crew flights for marking the International Women’s Day which is falling on the 8th of March.
Air India would be operating a wide range of narrow-body aeroplanes for domestic and international flights with female pilots giving a salute to the women power, as informed by the Airline in one of its statement on Wednesday.
According to Air India, the all-women crew flights would be travelling to various international destinations which includes—New York, San Francisco, Washington, Newark and Chicago, along with Milan, Singapore and Frankfurt.
The national carrier airline has also got the plans of conducting a series of cultural events to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
The airline also informed that the unique feature of the all-women crew by the Air India is that most of the operations from the Cockpit crew to the Cabin crew, Doctor, Check-In staff, ground operators, commercial staff, engineers, technicians, flight dispatchers and even the safety and quality auditors would mostly be women.
The airline informed that even the person behind planning and organizing these all-women crew flights is a woman—Amrita Saharan who is the Executive Director Integration and Industrial Relations and in charge of the Crew Management.
Air India operated its very first all-women crew flight from Kolkata to Silchar back in 1985.
The national carrier claimed that the airline made a world record in 2017 when it operated the longest-ever all-women crew flight around the world on the route of Delhi-San Francisco-Delhi.
As per the data of 2017 the airline consisted of about three thousand eight hundred women in workforce out of twenty-seven thousand five hundred people. Its fleet comprises of more than one hundred and fifty aircraft.
