Dr. Yasmin Rashid – Punjab Health Minister – confirms that China will provide COVID-19 vaccines to Pakistan. These have already been tested and fair results have been found.
In addition to this, the minister also told that 2400 ventilators are also available in the province serving the purpose to treat COVID-19 patients.
After the initial trials, Pakistan now has approved the final phase of clinical trials for the single-dose. The Chinese vaccine is named Ad5-nCoV. The vaccine is co-developed by CanSino Biologics, a Tianjin-based vaccine company, and China’s Academy of Military Medical Sciences.
It in informed that some 40,000 people from Pakistan, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Russian have volunteered for the trials. The third phase of Ad5-nCoV is expected to conclude by January 2022.
Some 8,000 to 10,000 (out of the total number of volunteers) Pakistanis will participate in the trials which would be conducted in five hospitals in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.
