A strong earthquake of 5.8 magnitude killed 30, more than 450 injured

The residents of Azad Jammu & Kashmir are facing the disastrous situation as the strong earthquake of 5.8-magnitude killed as many as 30 people while more than 450 people got injuries.

According to the details, the earthquake on Tuesday hit some urban and rural areas of the AJK including Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and several other scattered areas.

According to the reports from Mirpur, the area of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, several deep cracks emerged on the roads near Jatlan Canal situated in Upper Jhelum. Due to the cracks on the roads, several cars and bikes were overturned into it.

As per the details of another incident, a building in Mirpur collapsed and several people in the building got serious injuries and shifted to the nearby hospital for the medical treatment.

According to the information minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), the concerned authorities of AJK have taken the immediate steps for providing the relief to the affected people in the several areas besides analyzing the casualty rate and damage.

“We don’t want to create the environment of fear right now,” the Information Minister AJK, Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas said.

A group of several rescue team from AJK has reached the affected area and initiated large-scale relief activities. On the other hand, the Jawans of Pakistan Army have also commenced relief activities in the affected areas of Mirpur.

The concerned authorities of Azad Jammu & Kashmir have imposed an emergency in all hospitals.

An earthquake of 5.8 magnitude jolted the several areas of Pakistan including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, and other nearby areas on the evening of Tuesday. The tremors were felt in the several cities of Pakistan for 10 seconds.
