A petition challenging the recently announced Pakistan’s Hajj Policy 2019 has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday.
The petitioner mentioned in the petition that the government of Pakistan has increased the amount for Hajj offered by government for a person from Rs2,80,000 to Rs4,56,000 in the new Hajj Policy 2019.
The government has also withdrawn the subsidy offered to the Hajj pilgrims. The newly announced Hajj Policy 2019 has made the pilgrimage 65 percent expensive, the petition reads.
The petitioner claimed that the increase in the expenses of the government offered Hajj scheme is to illegally earn profit.
It is pertinent to mention here that government of Pakistan had withdrew the subsidy on the Hajj which increase the expenses by Rs176,000 for each pilgrim whereas the overall expenses for Hajj reached Rs456,000.
