A Patient Travelling from Islamabad to Sindh Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Another coronavirus patient has been identified in Sindh. The 52-year-old patient came from Islamabad to Sindh two days ago. He was tested positive. So the total number of coronavirus cases in Sindh has reached 15. 13 of these patients are in stable condition and two have been discharged.

Health and Population Welfare Department, Sindh tweeted, “#Sindh Health Department has a new case of #CoronaVirusPakistan The 52-year-old patient arrived from Islamabad 2 days ago & was tested positive today. This brings the total number of cases to 15 in Sindh out of which 13 are in stable condition & 2 have been discharged.”

As per tweets regarding this patient, he did not have any travel history. This is quite alarming as it means that now human to human transmission of the virus has started in Pakistan.

It is important that the government takes necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus, even if it means complete lockdown of Karachi, being the epicenter of the virus in the country.

Quite recently, the government decided that all PSL matches will be played with no spectators on the ground. Also, the schools in Sindh have been closed until 3oth May.

Senator Murtaza Wahab tweeted, ” Summer vacations are being preponed in Sindh & schools in Sindh will reopen on the 1st of June 2020. The decision has been made by cabinet.”

These necessary steps are being taken to control the spread of the virus.
