According to the US media, a 30-year-old man from Texas has lost his life from the novel coronavirus after attending a “COVID-19 party” hosted by an infected person.
The Chief Medical Officer at the Methodist Hospital in a city of Texas, San Antonio, Jane Appleby said that the man thought that the novel coronavirus was a deception, despite it took lives of more than 135,000 people in the United States (US) so far.
“Someone will be diagnosed with the deadly virus, and they will have a party to invite their friends over to see if they can beat the virus,” in a video broadcast by US media, Appleby said.
One of the heart-wrenching things was that before giving up, he said to his nurse that the ‘You know, I think I made a mistake’.
Appleby said the man thought that the deadly virus was a hoax. He thought he was young and invincible and wouldn’t get affected by the virus that took lives of the hundreds of the thousands of people across the country.
The chief medical officer said that the young patients often do not realize how sick they are.
“They don’t look really sick. But when you check their oxygen levels and their lab tests, they’re really sicker than they appear,” she said, calling on people to take the risks seriously.
