A film is to be made on Wasim Akram’s life, as was announced at the PSL opening ceremony on Thursday night.
The film named “Akram: An Era”, would be produced by Adeel Niazi and Arsalan H. Shah. Niazi would also be sitting in the seat of the director for this project. The film is presently in the pre-filing stages. Auditions and screen tests have been lined up to take place after PSL 2020.
The script has been locked down and would be highlighting the accomplishments of Akram on the field but also give the audience a look into his personal life. The film is all set to launch later this year.
As per a press release, the ex-fast bowler said that the fact that films were being made on cricket and sports stars was a good sign for the film industry. He said that the movies are unique portal to involve an entirely new generation. He added that he looks forward to taking part in the making and cannot wait to see how this works out.
Niazi said that Wasim Akram was one of the most iconic names in the world of cricketing, and having the chance to work on a project which looks at his journey was both nerve-wracking and thrilling.
