A batch of 500 Chinese workers arrives to work on CPEC’s Power Project in Thar Block-1

After a batch of as many as 500 Chinese engineers and managers reaches Pakistan, it is expected that the work on Shanghai Electric’s Thar Coal Block-1 Project will speed up.

As per the details, the Chinese engineers and managers arrived on a special charter flight that took off from Pudong International Airport, Shanghai, and landed at the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

All Chinese workers were given a warm farewell by the Executive management of the Shanghai Electric, Mr. Chen Ganjin, and Mr. Liu Guoping before their departure for Pakistan. On their arrival in Pakistan, the Chinese personnel were received by the officials of the company at the Jinnah Terminal of Karachi airport.

The arrival of the Chinese workers in Pakistan, which had been delayed after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, is expected to give a boost to the Thar Coal Project.

Chief Executive Officer of Sino Sindh Resources Mr. Li Jigen, an overseas subsidiary of the Shanghai Electric, said that the return of the Chinese engineers and managers is a major development for the company and it will pave the path for the construction and production work at the Thar Coal Block-1 Project.

He also thanks both Pakistan and Chinese authorities for facilitating the charted flight.
