A Baker in Dubai Made “Jail-Themed” Cake for Celebrating Nawaz Sharif’s Conviction

The ex-prime minister—Nawaz Sharif has been sentenced in the Avenfield Reference case, however, his critics seem to still celebrate the court’s decision in their own innovative ways.

Nawaz Sharif has been given a verdict of imprisonment for ten years in a corruption case previous week. The three-time Prime Minister was found guilty in the Avenfield case—relating to the ownership of the four flats in the posh Avenfield House in London—the charges were unveiled in the Panama Papers scandal.

A baker expressing her pleasure on the court’s verdict made a cake with Nawaz Sharif “behind the bar”.

Khadija Ammad—a freelance cake artist made a cake in which she featured the ousted prime minister drawn in a monochrome prison attire on the cake, with “GONE” written on it as a message.

In an interview the maker of the cake, who is originally of Pakistan, said it was her husband Ammad Ahmed Khan’s plan. She said that it was her spouse’s idea as he was super excited after learning about the verdict of Nawaz Sharif, so he advised her to make such a cake displaying the former-prime minister behind the bars.

Providing details regarding the dessert, the baker said that the cake was of three kilograms in weight and vanilla-flavoured moist cake with the sauce filling of praline. There is no doubt in it, that obviously the unusual cake was immediately purchased for three hundred Dirham (which makes rupees five thousand six hundred and sixteen—at the present exchange rate) by another Pakistani man.
