A 113-year old woman has survived the novel coronavirus at a retirement home in Spain where several other residents lost their lives due to the deadly virus.
Maria Branyas, who was born in the United States (US), got infected by the coronavirus in April at the Santa Maria del Tura care home in the eastern city of Olot, where she has lived for the past 20 years, and fought the respiratory illness off in isolation in her room.
A spokesperson of the retirement home told the media that she survived the disease and doing fine adding that Branyas had only displayed mild symptoms.
“She feels good now, she took a test last week and the result was negative for the virus,” the spokeswoman of the residence said without giving further details.
According to the details, Branyas, a mother of three, was isolated in her room for weeks, with only a single employee in protective gear allowed to check on her.
