8,700 Electric Cars and Wheelchairs Arranged for Pilgrims in Makkah

Nearly around eight thousand seven hundred electric cars and wheelchairs would be provided for the elderly, sick and the pilgrims with the special requirement to use free of charges within the holy mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s mosque in Madinah. This was informed by the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.

The presidency would also be supervising the wheelchair pushers and would provide them with the needed permits.

It has also allotted two hundred and nine personnel who would work twenty-four seven in shifts for monitoring the pushers and assistants to make sure they are following the rules as set by the authorities and are not charging more than the defined charges from the pilgrims.

The director of the transportation services—Muhammad Ali Hiusawi said that the presidency is making all the needed possible efforts for streamlining Hajj and Umrah for the pilgrims.

It was further informed that more than three thousand Saudi youths have been hired and the paths have also been increased.

Hiusawi also said that it is also supervising the operation of the electric cars and has introduced counters at service locations and paths guiding towards them. The staff has been positioned at the service counters to respond promptly to the queries of the pilgrims.

The month of Ramazan and the season of Hajj are among those times when the city of Makkah gets heavily crowded as Muslims throughout the world fly in the Holy city for fulfilling the religious ritual of Umrah or Hajj. During this time the Saudi authorities try adopting and providing all such services for the pilgrims that could provide them ease and make their stay in the Kingdom a comfortable one.
