100 proclaimed offenders have been named by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the human trafficking crimes 2019’s ‘Red Book.’ 5 women criminals have been included in FIA’s Most Wanted List.
Out of 100 offenders, from Punjab, Islamabad, Sindh, and Balochistan there were 43, 31 and 12 and 2 offenders respectively.
As per last year’s list, 93 human smugglers were declared most wanted and 19 were arrested.
It was highlighted in a recent seminar that most of the trafficking victims were girls and women. Upto 80% of people trafficked worldwide were women and girls while 60% were from Asia, as per the Global Times report statistics.
An FIA official said that women were trafficked not just from poor areas of Southern Punjab and Balochistan but also from big cities including Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad. He said that on the pretext of marriage there were young women from Paksitan that were trafficked to China. Earlier visas were withheld of 90 Pakistani brides following the reports of human trafficking by the Chinese Embassy.
