Prime Minister—Imran Khan would officially be launching the “5 million Housing Project” during the initial half of the next month that is October. The process of registration would also be starting with the launch of this project.
This decision was taken during a meeting of the Task Force on housing with the Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Prime Minister office.
The meeting was attended by many participants including the Housing Minister for Punjab—Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, MNA—Mr. Najeeb Haroon, Mr Saleem Ranjha of Akhuwwat Foundation, Quarter-Master General (QMG)—Lt. Gen Moazzam Aijaz, Director General Army Lands—Maj General Naveed Safdar, Mr Arshad Dar, Mr Zaigham Mahmood, Secretary Housing—Dr. Imran Zeb Khan, Mr Ali Zafar, Mr Yaqoob Tahir Izhar and others.
The Task Force described to the Prime Minister regarding the progress made so far in drafting a detailed plan for the planning, execution and monitoring of the “5 million Housing Project” for the people who belong to the low-income group as well as the regularization of Katchi Abadis.

The prime minister was briefed that a detailed housing policy framework with a complete approach and multi-layered initiatives was being made for creating a favourable environment and for offering the one-window solution to both the local and foreign investors. It was also told that a top body would be formed for the purpose to make sure that the project is completed flawlessly.
The Prime Minister Imran Khas has already taken the decision to take responsibility of this demand-driven initiative that would not only fulfil the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s promise of providing 5 million houses to the homeless however would also be producing large economic activities and job opportunities for the youth.
Lt Gen Moazzam Aijaz—the Quarter Master General also offered to give Army’s expertise and help in providing the 5 million housing project.
Imran Khan said that other than the utilization of the expertise of both the public and private sectors, successful financial models which includes that of Akhuwwat would be copied to make sure that affordability and success are attained.
The prime minister instructed the Task Force to accelerate the finalization of the plan including the legislative framework for it to be considered by the provincial and federal government.
