48 young doctors in Punjab resign over ‘health department, minister’s behavior’

As many as 48 doctors of the teaching hospitals across the most populated province of Pakistan, Punjab have submitted their resignations.

According to the details, the doctors have tendered their resignations while claiming that the health department and the provincial minister for Health Dr. Yasmeen Rashid are not paying heed to their concerns.

On the other hand, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) said that there are security issues inside the hospitals. The doctors have been asking the health department of Punjab to look into the matter but nothing has been done yet.

“Doctors are not being given the sense of security they deserve and it’s a chaotic situation. This is why doctors of Punjab have to leave their jobs,” the president of the Young Doctors Association said.

It is pertinent to mention here that as many as fourteen of these doctors belong to the Mayo Hospital in Lahore.

On the other hand, seven from Jinnah Hospital, six from the Children Hospital, three from the Genera Hospital, and four from the DG Khan Hospital.

Another two doctors from Lady Aitchison Hospital and two from Services Hospital have also submitted their resignations.
