461 Indians Applied for Pakistani Citizenship in Last 10 Years

Tensions between Pakistan and India are high, but a new report has emerged on Saturday that mentions that 461 Indian nationals have applied for the Pakistani citizenship in the span of last 10 years.

As per the reports published in the local English daily, the big share of foreigners seeking the citizenship of Pakistan comes from India.

Out of the 635 foreigners to become the citizens of the nation, 461 are from India and remaining from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. 4 Chinese nationals were also in the list.

During the last month, tensions with India increased dramatically after the Pulwama attack by the Jaish-e-Mohammad cadre. India blamed Pakistan and started the first air attack since 1971. Pakistan retaliated and shot down an Indian plane inside its airspace and captured one Indian pilot.

But, despite the offensive stance of the Modi-led government, PM Imran Khan said that Pakistan would prefer peace and also sent the Indian pilot back via the Wagah border.

Pakistan has also mentioned that it would act against the ones behind the Pulwama attack, if on its soil for cross-border terrorism.

After the meditations of the international nations, both neighbours backed off and sent the high commissions back, who had been asked to report home in mid of tensions. Also, the ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) are frequent.
