Recently, the federal government ordered the Ministry of Information Technology to initiate a national helpline to offer emergency help to every Pakistani.
The helpline would be a 4-digit number and would be developed with the mutual coordination of IT and telecom experts.
Federal Minister for Information Technology Aminul Haq added:
People can call on the helpline number from anywhere,
From home, a public place, road, train, highway or any other place in any area in case of emergency,
This 4-digit helpline is expected to connect citizens with all federal, provincial agencies, police, law enforcement, hospitals, rescue and other relief and emergency services.
The minister also added that the central desk of the helpline would have the numbers of officers and personnel of all concerned agencies. The entire system of this helpline will be computerized.
Initially, the helpline line would be launched in Islamabad followed by Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar. And in the next phase, it would spread nationwide.
