350 units of BMW X1 sold in 2017 in Pakistan

Dewan Motors Private Ltd (DML) has seen a sharp increase in sales during 2017, its newly introduced BMW X1 model got the hype. The company sold as many as 350 units to its customers in 2017.

The company introduced BMW X1 in Pakistani market in September 2016, since then the sales are growing. Dewan Motors has also introduced BMW Plug-in Hybrid and Electric vehicles in Pakistan, the new addition to their product line is also gaining momentum gradually.

The BMW X1 secures the top position in premium compact SAV segment. The company said, “The all-new BMW X1 treats the premium compact segment to a more potent Sports Activity Vehicle. The second generation comes with a great design straight out of the BMW X model.

Regardless of Regulatory Duties imposed by the government on import of vehicles which came into effect in October 2017, Dewan Motors keep delivering the luxurious cars to their customers.

According to the sources BMW has challenged the imposed regulatory duties on cars in Sindh High Court (SHC) as well as Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC). The decision went in the favor of BMW in SHC and ordered Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Federal Government to return the duties on imports to the companies. The case is still pending in the higher court, the SC, however, the Ministry of Finance has tried to cover the issue of Regulatory Duties in the budget 2018-19.

The recent budget 2018-19 announced by Miftah Ismail, the federal government has proposed exemption of 6 percent customs duty on charging stations of electric vehicles. The regulatory duty of 15 percent on electric vehicles has been exempted along with 50 percent to 25 percent customs duty.
