The project for Gwadar development includes Gwadar Airport, desalination plant for clean drinking water, upgradation of existing 50-bed hospital to 300 beds,  development of Gwadar export processing zone, and building of CPEC Institute.

However, the government has rejected Balochistan government proposal to start new housing and commercial societies in Gwadar by private investors. The federal government has asked Balochistan government to wait till the Gwadar City Master Plan is finalized by Chinese consultants in August.

Coming to the projects planned for Gwadar Development, the establishment of Gwadar Airport is a huge project. Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Dostain Khan Jamaldini said that the work on new Gwadar airport will start soon. The company that has been nominated by China for the development of mega Gwadar airport has got the clearance for financing & execution of the project.  China Airport Construction Group Engineering Company’s representative Jianxin Liao informed a journalist that the New International Airport in Gwadar will be the biggest airport of Pakistan. It will be situated on 4,300 acres.

As for the development of Gwadar institute, Rs 300 million has been allocated in budget 2018-19. Ministry of Planning, Development, and Reform informed the Senate Standing Committee for Planning and Development that the Gwadar institute will be a research-based institution where all information & research will be done concerning  China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The committee members said that without Balochistan, CPEC would have been impossible. They want that more projects should be started to improve the education system in Balochistan. Unemployment is a major issue in the neglected province of Pakistan which needs to be tackled in order bring betterment & prosperity in the area.
