3 Chinese Workers Arrested for Making Videos of New Islamabad International Airport

Three Chinese nationals have been arrested for making videos of the New Islamabad International Airport. Their drone camera has also been shot down, which they were using to make the videos of the airport. This is confirmed by an Airport Security Force (ASF) source.

As per the Airport Security Force source, the arrested Chinese nationals were the workers of the Chinese company that was involved in the airport construction. They were arrested for making drone footage of the Islamabad airport without permission.  Due to the firing, the drone was destroyed and it has also been taken in the custody the Airport security force officials.

This is not the first issue that has surfaced in Pakistan relating to Chinese workers. A video recently surfaced showing Chinese workers fighting with Pakistani local police. As a result of that those workers were deported from Pakistan.

Coming back to the airport, the opening of new Islamabad International Airport has been delayed again. Instead of opening on April 20th, the Airport will now be functional from May 3rd. The new flight schedule was announced for Friday, everything was being prepared for flight landings on April 20th on the New Islamabad Airport but once again there has been another delay. The reason for the delay is that the Advisor to Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Ahmed is not satisfied with the equipment testing and system. He wants more tests and trials on the airport till he is completely satisfied.

He said, “The state-of-the-art system and equipment need to be tested and trialed further to bring it to the level of international standards. The opening of the new airport was rescheduled to do more tests and trials in order to improve reliability and efficiency of systems.”
