A government spokesperson said that it is unlawful to click pictures of women on the beaches without their knowledge. The objective of the government is to provide the feeling of comfort and protection to the beachgoers from the offenders as the number of people visiting Dubai beaches is ever increasing.

The police stations on ports monitor the marine transportation and the public beaches including the Al Mamzar Beach Park, Umm Suqeim Beach, JBR and the Jumeirah Open Beach.

A total number of fourteen deaths and four injuries have been reported on the Dubai beaches in 2017 which is a lesser count than the deaths and injuries recorded in 2016 which was twenty-nine deaths and six injuries.

Security programmes adoption and the awareness campaigns assisted in lessening the number of incidents on beaches, as informed by the Brigadier Al Bannai.

He added that an increase in the lifeguards’ towers also helped in the reduction.

Dubai Police have asked the beachgoers to be super cautious particularly after the sunset as Dubai Municipality lifeguards only are on duty from sunrise to sunset.
