After eating a mid-day meal in a government school in India, at least 26 students were admitted to the hospital in Delhi. After the incident, the Delhi government ordered the inspections of all mid-day kitchens operating in the city.
The police department of Delhi has registered an FIR after they received a formal complaint from the school.
According to a police officer, “as many as 26 students of classes 6th to 8th fell sick right after having their meal at the government school situated in Narela area of North Delhi, after that, all the students were rushed to the Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital.”
“Early symptoms included abdominal pain, vomiting, and dizziness. Our department has initiated an inquiry to find out if the negligence was on part of food caterer of the school administration,” the police official added.
Although the medical condition of the children was improved right after few hours, but they haven’t been discharged yet as they are still under observation in the hospital, he said.
On the other hand, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia has ordered to inspect all mid-day meal kitchens working in the city and also issued the warning of strict action, including the termination of the contract and suspension of the officials if the negligence found on their side.
