Pakistan will be producing disease-resilient potatoes using modern technology. This is an initiative of Recently, Agrotech Company (PATCO) and Green System Pakistan (Pvt) Limited.
The two companies on Thursday (October 1st) signed an agreement where they would apply modern techniques and technology to produce 2 million disease-resistant potato tubers.
The signing authorities included; Chief Executive Officer of PATCO, Dr. Muhammad Amjad, and CEO of Green System Pakistan (Pvt) Limited, Rana Tahawar Ali Khan.
The PARC Chairman, who also attended the signing ceremony, told the audience that the tissue culture technology is used to increase the production of plants. He also told that this technology will not only fasten the production pace but would also improve the quality of the plant and make it more resilient.
This innovation will also save the loss of potatoes due to various diseases and save Pakistan from importing potato tubers from Holland.
Improving the production of potatoes is one step ahead towards recovering the loss of the plant. While other benefits might include its export to foreign countries and also implementing the same technology on other plants to revive the agriculture sector of Pakistan.
