Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System Project is a federally funded development program in Karachi. Its first phase is expected to complete by May 2018. Once the first phase is completed the Green Line Bus service will be operational from Surjani town to Guru-Mandir.
As per news reports, the first phase construction work is now in its final stages. Currently, the bus stations are being constructed and once that is completed the ist phase of the bus system will be open for public use.
Chief Executive of Karachi infrastructure Development Company Limited Muhammad Saleh Farooqui said that the government both the federal & provincial are fully supporting this project & are cooperating in all possible ways. He informed that one of the essential parts of the Green Line BRTS is the development of State of the Art bus depot at Surjani town which is near the Abdullah Chowarngi.
General Manager of Green Line Bus Project Zubair Ahmad Channa said that most of the development work from Surjani to Guru-Mandir is done. Thus we can hope that the first phase of Green Line Bus Project in Karachi will complete by May 2018.
Furthermore, he also informed that at Numaish Chorangi an underground bus station is also being built.
As far as the infrastructure projects go there is a lot of progress & developmental work going on in Pakistan. Islamabad New Airport Metro Bus Project is expected to complete by March 2018. It was initially planned to be constructed by August 14, 2017. But both the airport and the metro project were delayed due to design changes and cost issues.
Similarly, it is highly anticipated that the metro train service in Pakistan will be operational by March 23rd, 2018.
A couple of months back the director land acquisition at the LDA Amir Khan said, “According to our evaluations, we hope to have the trains running by March 23rd. But this is still a tentative date. We aim to complete it in day-and-night shifts.”
