The World Index revealed the list of the most polluted cities in the world and twelve cities from top 15 are from India.
Also, two cities among the top 10 are from Pakistan. Even though the present ruling Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) government has launched various initiatives to make a clean and green Pakistan, the road is quite long. Faisalabad is ranked the third most polluted city in the world while Lahore is ranked the tenth most polluted city in the world as per the World Index.
Delhi was ranked as the world’s most polluted capital in the world. The commercial hub of India, Gurugram is declared the most polluted city in the world followed by Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Noida, Bhiwadi, Patna, Lucknow, Jodhpur, Muzaffarpur, Varanasi, Moradabad among top 15 most polluted cities.
The data was acquired from the IQAir AirVisual that revealed that the 15 cities in the list are basically South Asian neighbors. 12 most polluted cities in top 15 were from India, two were from Pakistan and one from China.
As per the report the above mentioned cities air quality is much worse than what is considered safe by global standards.
Executive director of Greenpeace Southeast Asia Yeb Saño said, “Air pollution steals our livelihoods and our futures, but we can change that. We want this report to make people think about the air we breathe, because when we understand the impacts of air quality on our lives, we will act to protect what’s most important.”
