A schedule for 10 flights has been announced by Pakistan International Airlines. These flights will be operated to the United Kingdom and Canada from April 4 to April 10. This step has been taken on government’s decision to partially resume international flight operations.
Two special flights will operate as per the PIA spokesman Abdullah Hafeez. PK-789 with 264 passengers on board will depart from Lahore to Toronto. The second flight PK-781 carrying 242 passengers will depart for Toronto from Karachi. These flights are not part of the 10 flights announced by PIA.
The passengers are being scanned; luggage is being disinfected before departure of the flights in the presence of top officials of PIA at the airports.
Furthermore, he said that two PIA aircraft will return to Islamabad without carrying any passengers from Canada.
Out of the 10 PIA flights scheduled, 4 are allocated to the British nationals stranded in Pakistan. There are over 500 British nationals amongst the passengers who have been asking their government to take them back.
According to media report, “in a video message on Tuesday, British High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr Christian Turner said that British authorities are doing everything to facilitate UK citizens’ return to UK”.
“We are doing everything we can to help support you to return home. That is my and my team’s single priority. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work going on with the government of Pakistan and airlines to deliver that.”
